Trying something new.

I'm going to try something for us that's different.
Being a planner.

Neither Mr. Peavs nor I am very good with planning.  We tend to be a little too impulsive for our own good (see also:  extra weight, purchases, etc).  SO, in an effort to help both of us curb these natural instincts, we're going to become planners.

My first little project is being more strict with meal planning.  I KNOW.  I've been blabbing about being a meal planner for pretty much ever.  Let's just say if I were Keri Strug, I wouldn't be sticking that second landing.  For the most part, I'm cool with that.  But I think this is something that I should try to be more stringent with.  I don't need to be a total spaz when it comes to making sure everything is written down a week in advance, but I think know I can do better than I do now.

With that in mind, I'll keep myself at least a little accountable, and tell you what's to eat this week:
  • Monday is my own version of the Jimmy John's turkey Unwich that I love so much for lunch and this delicious-looking curried corn soup for dinner.  Throwing in some fruits and veggies for snacks, and we're good for the day.
  • Tuesday is pizza for lunch for me (a work lunch) and leftover soup for hubbs, and mini turkey meatloaves for dinner.  Again with the F&V snacks.
  • Wednesday is leftover mini loaves for lunch and a pepper-crusted tuna steaks with oven fries and lemon spinach.  F&V scattered throughout.
  • Thursday sees the mini loaves again for lunch, and dinner is open.  I think it's mostly because I like the idea of having a free-for-all kinda day.
  • Same goes for Friday.  All I know for sure about Friday is that I'm having fruit and yogurt for breakfast, an apple for a morning snack, and a little cheese and nuts for an afternoon snack.
I'm new at this.  Gimme a break.  I think planning three days all the way is enough for me, friends.

Does anyone still read this blog?  If you do, what are some healthy recipes or menus that you use?  How much planning do you do?

  1. You know I'm usually a big planner for our dinners but sadly due to how busy we have been lately I kind of have left things go. Using the allrecipes.com menu planner really helps me (did you hear you can get it on your Droid now?)a lot, that way I can make my grocery list and plan all at once.
